Impact

Since 1993, over 20,000 LGBTQ youth and youth allies have walked through the doors of The Attic Youth Center.  Whether youth are seeking a caring adult to talk to, a safe space to express their identity, activities to participate in after school, or assistance with finding housing or a job, The Attic is here to ensure LGBTQ youth have the support needed to grow and thrive!

Over time, The Attic has found that consistent participation in programming leads to positive outcomes for youth, including:

  • Increased positive behavior
  • Increased social and emotional competencies (e.g. interpersonal skills, adaptability, teamwork)
  • Increased leadership capacity (e.g. public speaking, group facilitation, advocacy)
  • Improved literacy, study skills, and academic competencies
  • Improved job acquisition skills
  • Increased 21st century skills (e.g. information technology literacy, critical thinking, creativity and innovation, etc.)
  • Improved school attendance
