The Attic and Partner Organizations Receive Funding to Increase Housing Options and Services for Homeless Youth
The Attic Youth Center is thrilled to announce our collaboration with Covenant House Pennsylvania, PathWays PA, Valley Youth House, and YSI - Youth Service, Inc. to offer additional housing options and services for homeless youth in Philadelphia.
Last spring, our organizations testified in front of City Council, and many of our young people shared their stories of becoming homeless, aging out of foster care, and/or struggling to find affordable housing. We came together and advocated for additional resources to go towards housing for homeless youth in Philadelphia, specifically for young people ages 18-24. We would like to thank Helen Gym, City Council, and Liz Hersh and the staff from the Office of Homeless Services for hearing us and supporting our efforts.
This funding is crucial, as there are thousands of young people in our city, many who identify as LGBTQ, who get turned away from housing programs and related services each year due to lack of resources. With these funds and this new collaboration, more homeless youth will be able to secure housing. We look forward to working together as partners to provide homeless youth with counseling, job-readiness programming, crisis services, and housing options.
